8/25 Weekly Update
Updated on 06/10/2022
We are off to a great start this season! It has been such a joy getting to know the team and all of the parents.
The runners have been doing a great job at practices getting some miles under their feet!
We had our first meet on Friday in Dolores, in the Boggy Draw area. It was a pretty challenging course weaving through trees and up hills. The boys got 2nd place as a team and had all five members of the team in the top 11! As for the girls, we had a 4th and 5th place finish and everyone ran really well!
This week: We will start in with our skills practices. We will also have our athletic trainer as a guest speaker on Monday. *Reminder there are no meets this week and we will not practice this Friday or the following Monday 9/2. Enjoy the long weekend!

9/8 Weekly Update
Updated on 06/10/2022
What an awesome week! Despite the heat, the kiddos did an amazing job at the Grand Junction Meet! Every single runner improved their race time. Some runners improved by 3 whole minutes! It truly shows the passion and dedication these kids are putting into the season. We had two runners place in the top 10. Ruby with 6th place for the girls and Cole with 3rd place for the boys. Cole is currently ranked 5th for boys in our Region! Huge shout out to Delaney, Ruby, Chloe, Ava, Sabrina, Katija, and Beck... as well as Julie for helping out with the aid station for Imogene! I was bummed I couldnt be up there with you, but happy to hear from many runners that they appreciated your help! We have Gunnison coming up on Saturday. Be sure to check the separate post for details! -Coach Erin Murray

Heat Exhaustion Information - Tomorrow is going to be a hot one!
Updated on 06/10/2022
A note from our Athletic Trainer:
You can ensure your athletes and the parents that there is no need to worry, as it is low risk for heat illness despite the hot temperature (95 degrees) that day.
There is a relative low risk for the meet (Grand Junction shows an estimated humidity of 27% for that day).
Still emphasize on hydration and ensure plenty of cool water for the day, as well as breathable clothing (and sunscreen!). Heat illness can still happen, but it is 100% preventable!
