Updates and Information
Athletic Trainer- We are happy to announce the hiring of an athletic trainer- Matt Oakes. Please read the announcement here and introduce yourself when you see him.
State Golf- The Telluride Boys’ Golf team hit the road to participate in the CHSAA 2A state tournament with Collin Barney and Jacob Hulst. Congratulations to the boys for making it to the State tournament and good luck!
Homecoming- Last week we celebrated Homecoming on campus. The week was full of themes, community, pep rally, wins by soccer and volleyball teams, a dance, and a great atmosphere for our students. A big shout out to the booster club, student council, school district, volunteers and all who made it a success. The feedback from students has been great.
High School Fall Athletics Awards Night- Mark your calendars! The HS Fall Athletic Awards Night will be on November 21 in the Palm Theater at 5pm. Please join us as we celebrate all the hard work and successes of our HS Fall athletes!
New Seats!- Thank you to the Telluride Booster Club for purchasing new seats for our player bench area in the gym. This was a much-needed upgrade and we look forward to their arrival in time for the basketball season. We appreciate all of our community booster members who help make these things possible for our student-athletes.
Postseason is near- It is hard to believe, but the postseason for our Fall athletic programs is rapidly approaching. The best way for players, parents and fans to stay up to date on postseason qualification is to familiarize themselves with the CHSAA bulletins. Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT)- All High School coaches nominated 2 members of their team to be on the SALT and we held our first meeting last week. In our first meeting we discussed how leaders lead through communication of their actions, encouragement and words. Through SALT these students will be encouraged and equipped to lead. They also provide insight on the student-athlete experience, give input on rules/ regulations/ policies that affect student-athletes' lives, organize community service efforts and promote a positive student-athlete image on and off campus. We are just getting started on the journey but it is exciting to be a part of!
Character Education- As we move into the Winter season with HS boys’ and girls’ basketball teams, the athletic department will begin with weekly character lessons for each team. We often hear it said that character is learned through athletic team participation. However, we believe character is only learned through athletic participation if it is intentionally taught. Some of our Fall coaches have begun to introduce character lessons with their teams, but it will be required for high school teams moving forward when we hit the winter season. Families can expect to receive an emailed attachment weekly where they can reinforce and discuss the character focus of the team and how it relates to their family. With some intentional discussion and learning happening on the court and at home, we can really make a positive difference!

Homecoming- La semana pasada celebramos Homecoming en el campus. Un gran aplauso para el club de refuerzo, el consejo estudiantil, el distrito escolar, los voluntarios y todos los que lo hicieron un éxito. La retroalimentación de los estudiantes ha sido genial.
Noche de Premios de Atletismo de Otoño - ¡Marquen sus calendarios! La noche de premiación será el 21 de noviembre en el Palm Theater a las 5pm. Por favor acompáñenos a celebrar el trabajo duro y los éxitos de nuestros atletas de otoño.
Nuevos asientos - Gracias al Telluride Booster Club por comprar nuevos asientos para nuestra área de jugadores en el gimnasio. Postemporada está cerca- Es difícil de creer, pero la postemporada para nuestros programas atléticos de otoño se acerca rápidamente. La mejor manera para que los jugadores, padres y aficionados se mantengan al día sobre la calificación de postemporada es familiarizarse con los boletines de CHSAA. Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT)- Todos los entrenadores de High School nominaron a 2 miembros de su equipo para estar en el SALT y tuvimos nuestra primera reunión la semana pasada. En nuestra primera reunión discutimos cómo los líderes lideran a través de la comunicación de sus acciones, aliento y palabras. A través de SALT estos estudiantes serán alentados y equipados para liderar. También proporcionan información sobre la experiencia de los estudiantes-atletas, dan su opinión sobre las normas / reglamentos / políticas que afectan a la vida de los estudiantes-atletas, organizan esfuerzos de servicio comunitario y promueven una imagen positiva de los estudiantes-atletas dentro y fuera del campus. Apenas estamos empezando, pero es emocionante formar parte de ello.
Educación del Carácter- A medida que avanzamos en la temporada de invierno con los equipos de baloncesto masculino y femenino HS, el departamento de atletismo comenzará con lecciones semanales de carácter para cada equipo. A menudo oímos decir que el carácter se aprende a través de la participación en equipos deportivos. Sin embargo, creemos que el carácter sólo se aprende a través de la participación atlética si se enseña intencionalmente. Algunos de nuestros entrenadores de otoño han comenzado a introducir lecciones de carácter con sus equipos, pero será obligatorio para los equipos de secundaria en adelante cuando lleguemos a la temporada de invierno. Las familias pueden esperar recibir un archivo adjunto por correo electrónico semanalmente donde pueden reforzar y discutir el enfoque de carácter del equipo y cómo se relaciona con su familia. ¡Con un poco de discusión intencional y el aprendizaje que ocurre en la cancha y en casa, realmente podemos hacer una diferencia positiva!
