Welcome to the 2023 XC Season!

Welcome to the Middle School Cross County 2023 Season!

The focus for this season will be to create a lifelong passion for running through fun activities in and out of the woods, focusing on the fundamentals of running and technique. Running is an amazing sport that is the foundation of all others. Our goal at the end of the season is for each athlete to look back on their season and say they had fun and improved in their running abilities. As we approach practices, races, and school this semester, athletes will be charged with showing and building on the Miner Way of respect, responsibility, and integrity through our amazing team.

Races

Due to Telluride's geographic location, students who compete will miss a decent amount of school. Races are not mandatory, but highly encouraged. Races are a time where students can gauge the success of their training, meet new friends and create stronger relationships within their team. Athletes MUST speak to their teachers (as part of our Miner Way of responsibility) before they miss school for meets and are highly encouraged to bring the class work they missed with them. If a student feels that they are falling behind, I highly encourage them to discuss this with their coaches. We would be more than happy to support them with their academics!

Expectations:

Athletes will be expected to:

  • *Speak with their teachers before missing classes

  • Have a positive attitude

  • Wear appropriate clothing daily (athletic wear)

  • Bring water to practice

  • Snack for after practice

  • Follow directions and be timely

Parents:

  • Check emails daily for announcements/updates on Telluride Athletics.com.

  • Athletes need good running shoes and clothing.

  1. Athletic Apparel

  2. Running Shoes

  3. Water Bottle

  4. Pre/Post practice healthy snack

  5. Food for after practices/races
