2026-2028 sports classifications preliminary declarations (note these classifications are preliminary and may change before being finalized)
With recent changes from the Classification and League Organizing Committee the enrollment cutoffs for classifications has changed to a three-year average (no longer based on October count of single school year prior to the new cycle). Telluride High School’s three year average for the upcoming cycle, 2026-2028 is 291. The preliminary declarations were made for the following sports and classifications below. Telluride High School 2026-2028
(ADM-3) Enrollment Multiplier Passed
In September the CHSAA Legislative Council was called to a special session to vote on the ADM-3 enrollment multiplier. ADM-3 was proposed with the intention of adjusting the competitive advantage that some CHSAA member schools may have because of selective admission process, enrollment controls, and/or tuition-based enrollment when compared to schools who do not have these advantages (simply put: Private vs Public schools). This was a hot-button issue that passed with a majority vote. The San Juan Basin League Legislative Council representative, Chris Murray, voted Yes on ADM-3 and in line with the wishes of the San Juan Basin League member schools.
ADM-3 at a glance
Enrollment data will be counted using the following policies:
- A member school shall have its three-year enrollment average multiplied by a factor of 1.5 if it meets one or more of the following criteria:
- The member school is designated as “non-public” by the Colorado Department of Education
- The school has a tuition-based enrollment model
- Programs in bracketed sports at schools that meet the above definition will be exempt from the 1.5 multiplier if they did not qualify for and win at least one postseason contest during the previous cycle

What this means- Some private schools that have been historically in the same classifications of Telluride High School may move up a classification. This may help balance out competitiveness in the post season for some of our sports programs.
Fall highlights
The Telluride High School boys’ Golf team completed their season this past week with the team finishing in 4th overall in class 2A. Banks O’Brien finished 5th overall as an individual. The team really came together this year for a historic finish for THS golf. The future is bright with the younger golfers and great coaches leading the way.
Middle School Cross Country season wrapped up this past weekend with the boys’ team placing 1st in the San Juan Basin League. There was a tremendous effort from our boys and girls team this season as well as their coaches Jill Anderson and Chelsea Christ. We are proud of all their efforts and thankful for the time and dedication this season.
Middle School Girls’ Volleyball qualified for the San Juan Basin League tournament and completed the season in 3rd place in the league. The A-team finished with an overall record of 9-5 behind coaches Jim Mahoney and Daniel Davenport. The growth shown from all the girls in both skill and character was amazing and we are thankful for all the efforts.

The Student-Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) is currently working on the first student-run newsletter that should be out in the next month.
Student-Athlete Leadership Conference
The Athletic Department has requested support in the form of some hotel rooms from the Booster Club to take a handful of students to the InSideOut student leadership Conference. Three members of the SALT will be invited to join Ramon Rodriguez and Chris Murray on November 3, 2025 to attend the conference at Empower Field at Mile High. The conference encourages students to reflect on their leadership purpose, develop their communication and teamwork skills, and explore strategies for continuing to bring InSideOut to their teams and schools. This is a great opportunity to bring the work our coaches have been doing into the next phase by involving the students in the process as well. We are looking forward to having meaningful discussion with student-athlete leaders from around the state.

Telluride High School 2026-2028
(ADM-3) Multiplicador de inscripción aprobado

Lo más destacado del otoño
El equipo masculino de golf de la escuela secundaria Telluride High School terminó su temporada la semana pasada con un cuarto puesto en la clasificación general de la categoría 2A. Banks O'Brien terminó quinto en la clasificación individual. El equipo realmente se unió este año para lograr un resultado histórico para el golf de THS. El futuro es prometedor con los golfistas más jóvenes y los excelentes entrenadores liderando el camino.
La temporada de campo a través de la escuela secundaria concluyó el pasado fin de semana con el equipo masculino en primera posición en la Liga de la Cuenca de San Juan. Nuestros equipos masculino y femenino, así como sus entrenadoras Jill Anderson y Chelsea Christ, han realizado un esfuerzo tremendo esta temporada. Estamos orgullosos de todos sus esfuerzos y agradecidos por el tiempo y la dedicación que han dedicado esta temporada.
El equipo femenino de voleibol de la escuela secundaria se clasificó para el torneo de la Liga de la Cuenca de San Juan y terminó la temporada en tercer lugar de la liga. Conferencia de Liderazgo para Estudiantes-Atletas
El Departamento de Deportes ha solicitado apoyo al Club de Aficionados en forma de habitaciones de hotel para llevar a un grupo de estudiantes a la Conferencia de Liderazgo Estudiantil InSideOut. Tres miembros del SALT serán invitados a unirse a Ramón Rodríguez y Chris Murray el 3 de noviembre de 2025 para asistir a la conferencia en el Empower Field at Mile High. La conferencia anima a los estudiantes a reflexionar sobre su propósito de liderazgo, desarrollar sus habilidades de comunicación y trabajo en equipo, y explorar estrategias para seguir llevando InSideOut a sus equipos y escuelas. Se trata de una gran oportunidad para llevar el trabajo que han estado realizando nuestros entrenadores a la siguiente fase, involucrando también a los estudiantes en el proceso. Esperamos poder mantener un debate significativo con los líderes estudiantiles-deportistas de todo el estado.
