Justin Chandler and Brent Englund named as Girls soccer coaches  

 The Telluride High School Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Justin Chandler as our next Head Girls Soccer Coach and Brent Englund as our Assistant Girls soccer Coach. 

Justin earned his degree in Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1995 while skiing and playing soccer for the Buffalos. Immediately following graduation from CU, Justin began coaching and athletic administration K-12. Justin is no stranger to coaching at Telluride High School as he previously served at the helm of the boys soccer team for three years. Justin has been coaching Pre-K, Kindergarten and U10-U19 girls for the past twelve years. 

Justin has been the Director of Coaching for the Telluride Youth Soccer Club for over 30 seasons, and was the regional director of coaching for the Arsenal Youth Soccer Academy and technical director for United Soccer Coaches and Prostar Soccer youth soccer clubs.  Justin has earned 3 state level coaching licenses and two national coaching licenses for soccer coaching.  Justin also is a U16 girls assistant coach for the Colorado Select Olympic Development Program (ODP).

From 2005 -2015, Justin completed (7) Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) workshops in order to become a PCA Level 1 and Level 2 Certified Coach, and also completed (3) PCA Leadership Programs.

Brent played soccer at the University of Vermont. After hanging up his cleats with the Catamounts, Brent assumed the role of JV coach at St Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont. Brent eventually went on to be the assistant coach at Londonderry High School in New Hampshire, where the team won a state championship. 

Brent’s coaching career in Telluride began shortly after his move here in 1998 thanks to a fortunate encounter with the founders of the Telluride Youth Soccer Club, David and Karen Lamb. Brent is appreciative of his encounter with David and Karen so early in his Telluride journey and is forever grateful for their contribution to Telluride soccer. Brent is also returning to the Miner family after coaching the THS boys team in 2006.

Over the years, Brent has taken off a handful of Fall soccer seasons from Telluride to travel East to coach.  In the process, he helped coach another New Hampshire high school state championship, took part in coaching Navy Soccer camps as well as coaching at the Kristine Lilly soccer camp. He  has also been a shadow coach with Ligue 1 French club, Strasbourg Racing.

Justin and Brent are no strangers to each other, our community and the young women on the soccer team. Both are looking forward to this Spring season and being a part of the Telluride High School Girls Soccer team. We are thrilled to have Justin and Brent on Staff this Spring and excited for the team to get to work!
